Townsend, Delaware (August 16, 2017) – Two people were injured and hospitalized after several cars collided in New Castle County Tuesday afternoon, according to rescue crews from Townsend and Kent County who responded to the accident.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 15 at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 13 in Townsend.

Several cars traveling at about 60 mph crashed with two others facing the wrong direction. One car was rear ended and spun while others seem to have hit the Jersey barrier, according to officials.

Two victims were taken to Christiana Hospital, Middletown with injuries described as non-life threatening.

Limited details regarding the cause of the accident and the identities of the victims were available at this time.

An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
